HYDERABAD: Two con men who posed as gold polishers duped a couple of six tola gold at Alwal on Tuesday.Police said the duo approached a couple, Panduranga Rao and Bharati of Temple Alwal and identified themselves as gold polishers.Initially, Bharati gave them her silver articles and got them polished.Amazed at their work, she gave them her six tola gold ornaments which they cleaned.Later, the duo asked her to place ornaments in a pressure cooker. While placing them in the cooker, they diverted her attention and left with gold ornaments, asking her to remove them from the cooker after sometime.When she opened the cooker, she found the ornaments missing. A case has been registered after her husband complained to the police.Cash, Rs 2 lakh worth gold ornaments stolen A 30-year-old woman stole Rs 50, 000 cash and Rs 2 lakh worth gold ornaments from a house in Karkahana on Monday night.A woman who identified herself as Rani went to one, Nazeema’s house three days ago and requested the latter to employ her as a maid.The latter then asked the Rani to give her photograph and address to confirm her identity, but the former avoided talking about it. The theft came to light on Monday night when Nazeema ,who had left house in the evening, found her ornaments and cash stolen.Around 5.30 pm, Rani entered the bedroom and stole the articles and cash, when Nazeema’s mother was at home, police said. The maid quarrelled with the elderly woman and fled.However, police suspect that Rani is not her original name.Electrician falls on iron rods, survives A private electrician was severely injured when iron rods peirced through his stomach and legs after he fell from the fifth floor of a building at Narsingi on Tuesday.The incident occured at 1:30 pm, when Dayanand (25) slipped while removing decorative lights from the fifth floor of a hospital building and fell on the iron rods on the first floor of an adjacent building, the police said.Locals rushed to the spot and informed the police about the incident. Police struggled for nearly half an hour to cut the iron rods using hacksaws and other equipment, and rushed him to Osmania General Hospital where he was operated. Police said his condition was stable.
