Congress Police Complaint Alleges Retweets Too Were Part of Conspiracy

New Delhi: The Congress has filed a police complaint against the hacking of the Twitter accounts of the party and Rahul Gandhi alleging “a sinister conspiracy” and accused that those who have retweeted the offensive tweets sent out by the hacker too were “part of a ring of conspiracy to publish, propagate and spread the highly abusive comments as posted illegally.”

The complaint filed by party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala says both the Twitter account of Rahul as well as his email were hacked between 8.40 PM and 9.32 PM in the evening of Nov. 30.

“The profanity, abuse and derogatory remarks were then retwitted (sic) within seconds and minutes by various individuals carrying the same mal-intent in concert with the said hackers as part of a ring of conspiracy to publish, propagate and spread the highly abusive, obscene, objectionable, derogatory and reprehensive comments, statements and opinions as posted illegally,” says the complaint.

“It is clear that hacker/hackers, who posted the aforesaid content as also those, who were retwitting (sic), publishing, propagating and spreading the said content, were acting in concert and collusion in pursuance of a larger conspiracy to achieve the aforesaid nefarious and unscrupulous objectives,” it says.

The party has sought action against the culprits under diverse offences under the Indian Penal Code, The Information Technology Act as also under various criminal and civil laws.
