Cool breeze chills Vellore

VELLORE: Following the sudden rain on Wednesday, cool breeze on Thursday brought much-needed respite from the soaring mercury, across the district.Since the sky was cloudy, people expected  showers to continue on Thursday as well.  However, only Ambur and surrounding areas received rainfall, allowing cool air to make the day pleasant in the other parts of the district.The average rainfall record for 24 hours between 8 am on Wednesday and 8 am on Thursday is as follows:Vellore - 27.8 mm, Katpadi - 63 mm, Melpadi - 13.8 mm, Tiruppattur - 9.2 mm, Ambur - 32 mm, Vaniyambadi - 53.6 mm, Alangayam - 14.2 mm and  Gudiyatham - 29.8 mm.On Thursday, the maximum temperature in the district was 36.2 degree Celsius and minimum was 23.5 degree Celsius. It may be noted that the temperature has not come down below 40 degrees since the end of February.
