Los Angeles: Three hours after police and ambulances were called to Britney Spears' Studio City home late on Thursday night because of a child custody dispute, the singer was taken from her residence on a stretcher and placed in an ambulance. See pics

Aerial video provided by local television station helicopters showed what appeared to be Spears on a stretcher and surrounded by police and paramedics as it was rolled to an ambulance. Spears appeared to be conscious.

Police arrived Spear's gated home at about 2000 hours IST on Thursday and two ambulances were sent "as a precaution," a Los Angeles police spokesman said.

Spears has been involved in a heated exchange with her ex-husband Kevin Federline over custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

Federline, Spears' former backup dancer, holds primary custody of the children while the singer has limited visitation rights

Spears has been in trouble with the court earlier concerning her compliance with court orders in the custody case.

Earlier, TMZ.com reported that the Los Angeles Police Department has been called to Spears' house in Beverly Hills, along with an ambulance and fire trucks, as well as a police helicopter.

”In a normal case when someone shows up with a certified court order saying the kids need to be somewhere else, the police see to it that the order is obeyed. But that is in a normal case,” Spears' ex-lawyer, Sorrell Trope told Us Magazine.com.

Federline's bodyguard was supposed to pick the two boys at 1900 hours IST (local time), but Spears refused to turn them over and so the police were called.

Federline's lawyer was also seen leaving Spears' home around 2100 hours IST.

Earlier in the day, Spears had appeared for a deposition in the custody dispute, after failing to show up for two previous depositions.

While at the hearing the Trope and Trope law firm asked a court to be relieved as the singer's legal representatives in her custody battle, siting a 'breakdown in communications' between them and Spears.
