Delhi Police on Saturday filed a case under the Narcotics Act against "unknown persons" in the Rahul Mahajan case.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday filed a case under the Narcotics Act against "unknown persons" in the Rahul Mahajan case.

Rahul, late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan’s son, is recovering in hospital and his aide Bibek Moitra is dead after a party on Thursday night. Though poison has been found in Moitra’s body, doctors have said there is no drug in both men.

But Delhi Police registered a case at the Tughlak Road police station under Section 27 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Manish Agrawal told reporters in New Delhi.

The case was registered on the basis of initial information available to the police and any arrest in the case would depend on the basis of investigation.

Sahil Zarru, who was present at the Mahajan residence on Thursday night and was arrested in Srinagar, publicly denied that he had any role in the mystery death of Bibek Moitra and the illness of Rahul Mahajan.

Police have also filed a case of destruction of evidence in the matter, as it is known that servants had removed the champagne bottles and cleaned the floor of the vomit of the two men at 7, Safdarjang Road.

"We are in the process of collecting evidence. Depending on what details come we will take action against whosoever is involved," the Additional DCP said.

Rahul Mahajan and Moitra had consumed champagne and allegedly snorted cocaine at the Mahajan residence on Thursday night.
