Day after attack, gang surrenders

VELLORE: A day after the brutal attack on a 24-year-old murder accused inside the Vellore District Court, the five goons surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate in Arcot on Wednesday. The court has directed the police to remand them under judicial custody until April 25.Raja (26) of Pudhu Vasur, Udhaya (27), Sathiya (27) of Vellore Old Town, Basha (27) and Nashiya Abbash (28) of Konavattam surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court at 10 am on Wednesday in connection with the murder attempt of Jaggan (alias) Jaggannathan of Vellore on Tuesday in Vellore District Court. Jaggan had come to the court with three others to appear for the hearing in the murder case of the Public Relations Officer of CMC Hospital, John Sehar. Vasur Raja and his associates entered the court complex with weapons to murder Jaggan due to rivalry. However, he escaped from the five-member gang after hiding inside the office of the Vellore Lawyers Association in the ground floor of the court building. Deputy Superintendent of Police of Vellore M Sunderasan said the police would obtain custody of the five persons in a day or two to carry out enquiry into Tuesday’s macabre incident.
