THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an incident sure to send shivers among the residents of the capital city, a family of three was attacked in a gruesome manner by an assailant who trespassed into their house, located in the heart of the city not far away from the local police station, that too in broad daylight. The victims were identified as Non-Resident Keralite Priyadas, 55, his wife Jessy, 44, and their son Goutham, 24, of Kannammoola, near Pettah, here. They were admitted to the Medical College Hospital here with serious injuries immediately after the attack. Two more persons, who worked as the domestic helps at the house, were also injured while trying to nab the culprit. The domestic helps, along with the other local residents who rushed to the area, apprehended the culprit and handed him over to the police. The man was identified as Subrahmaniom hailing from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. The same family was in the news about two years ago when a group of robbers held Jessy captive and fled with their Mercedes Benz car. The police had arrested two persons, Vikas Godanki Chavan alias Rahul and Bapke, both of them hailing from Maharashtra, in connection with that incident. Rahul was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by the court, while Bapke is now a remand prisoner. The police are yet to nab the rest of the gang, when the family has suffered another attack. According to sources, the assailant reached the house on Sunday afternoon and rang the doorbell. When Jessy opened the door, he requested a glass of drinking water, which she gave him. After he drank the water, Subrahmaniom suddenly took out the knife concealed in his dress and stabbed her. Priyadas and Goutham were also stabbed when they tried to save Jessy from the attack. The police have not yet been able to establish any relation between Subrahmaniom and the accused in the robbery case. They are interrogating him to find out whether any personal enmity existed between him and the victims, which led to the attack.
