New Delhi: The juvenile convict in the December 16 gangrape and murder case is in Delhi and has been kept at a complex of an National Government Organisation, said sources on Sunday. The juvenile is all set to walk free today after serving three-year sentence at a remand home.
CNN-IBN exclusively knows the location but is withholding it because of security and safety of the convicted juvenile. The members at the NGO also confirmed that juvenile was moved to the location on December 9.
As the convict is an adult now, his consent was necessary before shifting him from the remand home. He has given a signed undertaking. The convict has himself given the consent as he thought it would be the best option for him as he fears that his life will be in danger when he comes out.
Earlier in the day, the sources said that juvenile's release order form has been completed and it was done on December 9.
According to the sources, signing of formal order is now mere a legal procedure. His criminal record has been expunged and the new identity will not be revealed, added sources.
Protesting against the juvenile's release, Delhi gangrape victim's parents will lead a march near India Gate in the afternoon. "I'm still hopeful that something will happen from government and he will not be released. We have to fight against injustice. I am fighting to retain juvenile in jail," said victim's father Badrinath Singh.
In a midnight drama, Delhi Commission for Women appealed to the Supreme Court to stay his release but the court refused to give the plea an urgent hearing. A vacation bench comprising Justices AK Goel and UU Lalit in their order pronounced at 2 AM, posted the matter for hearing on Monday.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal reached the apex court at midnight to file a Special Leave Petition but the court said there was no urgency for a midnight hearing and has listed the hearing for Monday.
The juvenile is one of the convicts who brutally assaulted and raped a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus in south Delhi on December 16, 2012. The victim had died in a Singapore hospital on December 29, 2012.
