BANGALORE: Most of the streets in Devasandra ward under Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) need some serious attention. When City Express visited the ward, it was observed that streets were dug by one or the other departments on every other occasion, thus leaving it under continuous poor condition. The ward residents informed that situation becomes even worse during rains.Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) works are going on at Venkateshwara Theatre Road, hence the road is remained close, affecting the movement of public and the normal life of the citizens there.Speaking to City Express, Khadar Sheriff, a tailor said, “Our business is affected due to the works. They are on for a good six months now. We have no idea why the works are executed at snail’s pace. All we request the authority to is wind up the works as soon as possible, so that we can carry our business as usual.” When City Express spoke to the workers and enquired about the reasons for the delay in works, they informed that, since the earth surface is too rocky they need to break those rocks to carry out our works, which does consumes some time. Like the other neighbouring wards such as Hudi, Basavanapura and K R Puram, this ward too has water scarcity issues. Pusha, a resident told City Express, “We do not have enough water for drinking. Summer is just around the corner and the demand for water in the ward will increase even more. We will end up facing tough times during this summer too.”Moreover, the entire area of B Basavanapura is totally relaying on tank water. R Madhusudhan, general secretary of B Basavanapura Residents Association said, “In our area there are more than 10,000 residents. The water supplied to us is not sufficient.” The citizens also alleged that the water man was allegedly diverting the water reserved for their area to others. However, the area corporator, R Manjula Devi was not available for any comments.
