Delhi gangrape accused beaten up by inmates, suffers fracture: Lawyer
Accused Vinay Sharma's lawyer claimed that he had been beaten up by his inmates and had suffered a fracture in his right arm.

New Delhi: Less than a month since the alleged suicide by Delhi gangrape accused Ram Singh, another of the accused Vinay Sharma has claimed that he was beaten up by his inmates at the Tihar jail. Vinay's lawyer claimed that his right arm was fractured.

Tihar jail sources say that Vinay had complained of vomiting and had been taken to the DDU hospital for treatment. When he returned, he had a bandage on his right arm, but he didn't complain to jail officials.

On Thursday, another accused Akshay had also told the court that he was being threatened by jail authorities. After being permitted by the court to speak, Akshay Singh, his voice quivering with emotion, told Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Yogesh Khanna that a police constable was threatening to kill him or hang him inside the jail. "One of the Delhi police constables is threatening to kill and hang me. The constable also abuses me in filthy language regularly inside the jail," Akshay claimed.

After Akshay's submission, his counsel AP Singh requested the court to take action against the policeman saying it was a matter of serious concern for him as well. "He, the constable, is that kind of a person who can hang a person," Akshay said. The court took note of the submissions and asked Akshay's counsel to file a proper application so that the Tihar jail authorities could be informed about the incident and file their response to it.
