A pregnant woman was forced to deliver her baby at the canteen of Nizamabad Government Hospital here on Saturday after the hospital staff denied her admission stating unavailability of blood as the reason, referring her to Hyderabad.
However, later they admitted the mother and the baby fearing public outrage after she delivered the baby, whose condition is stated to be critical, out in the open.
Anuradha of Naveepet came to Nizamabad Government Hospital on Saturday evening for her delivery but the the hospital staff refused to admit her saying that they do not have stock of the blood group required for her delivery and referred her to Hyderabad.
After making vain pleas to the doctor, Anuradha’s family decided to think what to do next over a cup of tea at the canteen and took her along with them.
However, Anuradha started having labour pains and delivered her baby in the canteen itself.
As the news spread, the hospital staff immediately admitted Anuradha and her new-born baby to the hospital fearing public outrage if they failed to do so.
While Anuradha’s condition has been stated to be stable, her baby’s condition is said to be critical.
Her family members alleged that they were denied admission as they could not pay for the blood, which they allege was available, and held the hospital staff responsible for the critical condition of the baby.
