New Delhi: A civil services aspirant allegedly committed suicide after being denied entry into the examination hall. The incident happened on Sunday.

The candidate, identified as Varun, was a native of Karnataka. He was reportedly denied entry into the exam centre in Paharganj. He left behind a suicide note that said rules of the examination were well intended, but should be relaxed for a greater good. After being denied entry, he came back to his room in Rajendra Nagar and killed himself.

The UPSC conducted the Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 on June 3 across the country. According to UPSC rules, entry to the examination hall is closed 10 minutes before the commencement of the exam. The exam is held in two sessions, morning and afternoon. The timings are 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, meaning no candidate is allowed after 9:20 am and 2:20 pm. While issuing the admit cards last month, the commission had said that no candidate will be allowed into the hall after the entry is closed.
