London: British fashion designer Alexander McQueen hanged himself in a wardrobe at his home in central London after leaving a note at the scene, an inquest into his death heard on Wednesday.
Westminster Coroner's Court was told the 40-year-old, whose full name was Lee Alexander McQueen, was found dead at 1030 GMT at his flat in Green Street, Mayfair, last Thursday.
A post mortem examination found he died as a result of asphyxia and hanging.
A coroner's officer said the inquest heard the note was being examined by police.
A police officer told the court there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The inquest was adjourned to April 28.
