New Delhi: Designer duo Alpana-Neeraj's untitled collection stood out on the fourth day of the Wills Lifestyle India fashion week (WLIFW) with their use of surgical masks, crape bandage and moulded plastic.
The designers, who managed to blur the line of conceptual and ready-to-wear dresses with their collection, said they wanted to take fashion to another level without appearing foolish.
"Our idea of using all these surgical materials like crape bandage, masks, and glasses was to get that asymmetrical shape of the feminine body. Last year, we used silk wools in our garments, this time also we tried to stand out and create
something off beat.
"Fashion conscious people are not interested in wearing regular dresses. They want to stand out in the crowd. Our idea was to not look foolish but show the femininity gracefully," said Neeraj.
The collection ranged from short dresses to long evening gowns with a subtle colour palate of sea green, beige, lemon yellow and fuschia. Some of the dresses were accessorized with white paper like abstracts.
"The use of wearable plastic is no more about skin show but fits on the body and adds glamour to the whole look. Its a style stament in itself and it is quite comfortable," the designer added.
