DISTCOMs asked to speed up power supply to hospitals

DHH Nayagarh has been scheduled to have dedicated power supply before July 30. The work at Nayagarh DHH, worth around `15.86 lakh, is nearing completion as the laying of 11 KV line has started.Of the 21 DHHs in the line, the DISTCOMs are implementing the dedicated power supply project in eight DHHs, MKCG Medical College and Hospital and VSS Medical College and Hospital. The rest 13 DHHs have been put under the district administrations concerned, who are executing it through independent agencies with the DISTCOMs’ role limited to technical supervision only.The DHH Dhenkanal has a deadline of August 15 while September 30 has been assigned the date of completion for DHHs of Angul, Phulbani, Boudh and City Hospital, Berhampur. VSS Medical College and Hospital would be strengthened by the dedicated power supply connection by January 26, 2013. Funds have already been sanctioned for 21 DHHs and two MCHs for the purpose. The estimates for the rest nine DHHs and RGH, Rourkela are in the process of being finalised. The DISTCOMs have been instructed to submit the estimates to the Energy Department by August 15. After scrutiny by the Technical Consultant, it would be forwarded to the Health Department by August 25, a review meeting undertaken by Energy Secretary G Mathiavathanan in the presence of Mission Director, NRHM, P K Meherda here on Thursday, stated.The target date of completion of power supply for other hospitals will be fixed gradually.
