According to Enforcement Directorate sources, summons have been issued to the previous directors of Ananda Heritage, a company taken over by Lalit Modi and wife in September 2007.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday stepped up probe against controversial former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi and his wife Minalini.

According to Enforcement Directorate sources, summons have been issued to the previous directors of Ananda Heritage, a company taken over by Lalit and Minalini Modi in September 2007.

The Enforcement Directorate is probing transfer of money from a Mauritius-based company Wilton Investment to Ananda Heritage. The agency suspects that Wilton Investment is a bogus company in Mauritius.

On Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while addressing a press conference, had said that the ED had been investigating several cases against Lalit Modi and had also issued showcause notices to him in most of them.

The Union minister had also said that the notices issued to the former IPL chief were quasi-judicial in nature, adding that "light blue" notice was issued against Modi by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence at the behest of the Enforcement Directorate.
