Rampur: Eight compartments of Meerut-Lucknow Rajya Rani Express derailed near Kosi temple in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning.
The accident happened between Mundapandey and Rampur railway stations, Northern Railway spokesperson Neeraj Sharma said.

No deaths have been reported, but 12 people were injured. The injured passengers have been taken to a nearby hospital.

Neeraj Sharma, CPRO Northern Railways, said, “We have provided medical assistance. We have reports of injuries but no deaths have been reported. We will be providing a relief train soon. DRM Moradabad is supervising the relief work. 20-25 trains will be affected.”
The official said cause of the accident is not known yet. Rescue operations are underway.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered an inquiry and said he is personally monitoring the situation. He also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 for the passengers
injured in the derailment.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced Rs 50,000 each for seriously injured and Rs 25,000 each to injured.
