An elderly couple were sedated and robbed of gold and cash by unidentified persons at Banjara Hills here on Friday night. The couple, Sekhar and Jhansi Lakshmi, reside in an apartment at Sagar Society.

According to Banjara Hills police inspector Chandrasekhar Goud, three unidentified persons knocked the door of the couple’s apartment at around 10.45 p.m.
As the woman opened the door, one of the miscreant tried to gag her. With the help of the other two, the miscreants succeeded in chloroforming the woman and she collapsed unconscious.
Hearing his wife’s cries, Sekhar rushed out of the bedroom, only to be sedated with the chloroform laced kerchief. The miscreants snatched away the 1.5 tola gold chain from the woman and succeeded in finding Rs 15,000 cash after searching the house.
The couple regained consciousness around 1.45 a.m and alerted their relatives who in turn alerted the police. Banjara Hills police are investigating.
