HYDERABAD: Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Yuva Sangharsh 2011 was designed to identify the strengths of the younger generation while also encouraging them to be young leaders willing to brainstorm and address issues of national importance. The final of the Yuva Sangharsh 2011 was held at the Ramakrishna Math in the city. The rounds included sessions like essay-writing, case-study, a visual round, quizzing on personal values, interaction with the judges and the audience, survey on leadership, extempore talk on lessons from great leaders and their works (like Vivekananda’s “Call of the Nation”) and how these principles can be implemented in today’s scenario. Out of the eight short-listed for the finals, Vikram Krishna Srikumar and Soumya Cheedi, both 12th standard students at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Jubilee Hills, were declared joint winners. Expressing their happiness after winning the award, the students said they had discovered themselves. Said Vikram, “It was a good learning experience. We went through so many innovative activities and rounds, I think it was amazing.” Agreeing with him, Soumya said, “It was great knowing so many things and getting to interact with so many people.”
