To ensure transparency in payment of registration fee in property transactions, electronic stamping (e-stamping) facility was introduced on Saturday in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. District Magistrate Kumar Ravikant Singh launched the e-stamping facility at the sub registrar office in Noida and released two e-stamp certificates.

First e-stamp certificate was issued to Sohan Singh with a value of Rs 1.08 lakh and second certificate of Mukesh Chaturvedi was for Rs 2.77 lakh. From Monday e-stamps will be available for residents from certain bank branches.  "Facility of e-stamping as well as purchasing normal stamp papers will be available for the buyers," Singh said.

The facility has been introduced to cover applications of the denomination of Rs 10,000 and above only, the district magistrate said.  Stock Holding Corporation of India has been appointed by the Centre as Central Record Keeping Agency for computerised stamp duty administration system.  E stamping facility will be available at the company's office at sector 18, the district official said.

To pay stamp duty, people will have to just visit a designated bank or sub-registrar office where on payment they will be given a receipt having a unique identification number, Singh said.
