NAGERCOIL: For the second day, more than 25 officials from State Commercial Tax Department, held a search at the premises of former DMK minister Suresh Rajan’s steel plant office located at Nagercoil on Thursday.Former tourism minister Suresh Rajan’s wife D S Bharathi was running a steel manufacturing plant, NSR Steels Private Limited, at Pazhavoor in Tirunelveli district and the registered office of the plant was functioning at East Vellalar colony, Ramavarmapuram in Nagercoil.Meanwhile, on November 9, officials from State Commercial Tax Department conducted a search at the office premises at Nagercoil and the search went on till evening. Followed by this, around 25 officials from the department, led by T Sekar, joint commissioner of Commercial Tax Enforcement wing, conducted a search at the NSR Steels office at Nagercoil that started at 11 am on Thursday.Informed sources told Express that the former minister’s wife and the chief executive of the plant, D S Bharathi, was present inside the office premises during the search which continued till late in the evening.It may be noted that during the last month, the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police conducted a search at seven places, including Suresh Rajan’s residence, his business establishments and his relative’s residence in Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli district.
