With no sight of any Haryana Cricket Association official, the policemen and their batons took control of the situation outside.

Faridabad: Policemen thrashed spectators waiting outside the Nahar Singh Stadium, venue of the second India-England ODI, on Friday. Nobody was spared, not even children or journalists.

No Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) official was present to organise spectator entry, so policemen took control outside gate numbers one and seven with their batons.

Journalists struggled to get inside the stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000. They were pushed and shoved by the policemen, who abused people and shouted at them for trying to enter the stadium.

The entry was badly disorganized that it took them more than 30 minutes to enter the press box, which didn’t have Internet --- a must at international match venues.

Police lathicharged people at other gates to, and a journalist from Mumbai fell down in the chaos. India has a poor record at the stadium, winning only one of the five ODIs they played against Zimbabwe.
