New Delhi: The Finance Ministry on Thursday made a picture of Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad as its cover photo on its Twitter handle as a mark of respect to the brave soldier.
Koppad died three days after he was miraculously rescued from under tonnes of snow at a height of 19,600 feet after the February 3 avalanche hit his post in Siachen Glacier.
With snow-covered Siachen glacier as the backdrop, Koppad's picture was put as the cover photo of Finance Ministry's official Twitter handle.
A caption with the picture said: "Nation salutes you".
In his condolence message, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said: "Saddened to know that Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad our brave soldier is no more. May God give his family the strength to bear this great loss".
