Flood damage put at Rs 238 crore

BHADRAK: The district administration has sought an assistance of around Rs 238 crore for repair and restoration work in the district. As per the preliminary report on the damage, 4.1 lakh people in 420 villages of six blocks have been badly affected. The flood had ravaged 13 wards under Bhadrak Municipality and Basudevpur NAC. While 10 persons had died, crops over 50,163 hectares were damaged. Crop damage has been estimated at ` 10.7 crore. “The total figure might increase after the survey is completed,” said Suryakanta Padhi, District Emergency Officer.
