BANGALORE: People should come together and strive for the society — by emulating Kempegowda —  through the organisations that they represent, said MP for Bangalore North D B Chandre Gowda here on Sunday. He was speaking at the 500th birthday celebrations of Kempegowda, the architect of Bangalore, organised by Kempegowda Vokkaligara Sangha. Chandre Gowda said,”Kempegowda is remembered and respected for the last 500 years for his selfless service. If Bangalore is now a well-known city, then it is all due to him.”He criticised organisations that work only for specific communities and asked all organisations to work for the welfare of people. “We should understand that Vokkaligas live in Karnataka, which is contrary to some claims like ‘Karnataka belongs to Vokkaligas’. We should strive towards the welfare of all the people in the society through the organizations we represent,” Gowda added.Chandre Gowda congratulated the Chief Minister for having declared Kempegowda’s birthday as the Karnataka State festival.
