CHENNAI: The Private School Fee Determination Committee on Wednesday recommended a revised fee structure for schools in the city.Fees for admission to DAV Matriculation, Choolaimedu, start from Rs 17,150 in the kindergarten level, and rise to Rs 18,050 for Class I-V, Rs 19,600 for Class VI-VIII, Rs 22,050 for Class IX and X, and `24,100 for Class XI and XII.For DAV Matriculation, Gopalapuram, the committee stipulated Rs 23,350 for Class XI and XII, while the school had sought Rs 24,420 for its Biology group and Rs 25,285 for its Computer Science group for both classes.For Chettinad Vidhyashram Higher Secondary School, Raja Annamalaipuram, a maximum fee limit of Rs 14,550 has been fixed for Class XI and XII, while for kindergarten classes, the school can charge only up to Rs 10,950 as fees.Correspondent of CSI Ewart Matriculation, EM Victor said one of the nine schools of CSI in the city had been awarded an upper fee level of Rs 22,000. “But the revised fee structure prescribed is hardly sufficient to even cover the staff salaries. We provide holistic education, including training for extracurricular activities like swimming, gymnastics and roller-skating, and this fee structure is far from satisfactory to meet these expenses,” she said.
