New Delhi: A security officer and three other terrorists were killed in a fierce encounter in the northern district of Kupwara in Kashmir, official sources said.
Troops of 18 Rashtriya Rifles (PR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Chuntimarg Loalab in the frontier district of Kupwara early on Tuesday morning.
When the security forces were about to storm a particular house, the militants fired them. They fired back with three terrorists being killed.
A security force officer was also wounded critically after a bullet hit him. Later, he died on his way to hospital.
A defence ministry spokesman confirming that three terrorists were killed said we also suffered causality. The operation was still going on, he said.
