Jammu: A fresh batch of 617 pilgrims on Saturday left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas amid tight security.
The batch, which included 416 men, 93 women, 14 children and 94 sadhus, left in a motorcade of 18 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at 04:30 AM, a police official said.
The convoy has already reached Ramban on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
With on Saturday's batch, as many as 41,888 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine.
