CHENNAI: In order to enhance the efficacy and scope of its research and development centre, Dr KM Cherian’s Frontier Lifeline Hospitals recently shifted its Bioscience Unit from TICEL Biopark to Frontier Mediville in Elavur village near Gummidipoondi. The scientists at this Bioscience Park will continue catering to the research and testing needs of pharmaceutical, traditional medicines, medical devices, bioprosthetics, biotechnology, agrochemical and industrial chemical companies.Dr KM Cherian, chairman and CEO, Frontier Lifeline Hospitals said, “This move is a part of our expansion strategy at Frontier Mediville. The idea is to turn this medical village into a major hub for all types of research and development activities in Asia.” Frontier Meadiville, an integrated medical village, is the first of its kind in Asia and is spread over 350 acres for undertaking research and training, while giving due consideration to environmental conservation and social commitments.Frontier’s Bioscience division initially started its research at the TICEL Biopark, Taramani, in 2006. The unit is dedicated to undertake advanced research in tissue engineering, biological cardiovascular implants, stem cell research and technology and umbilical cord blood storage. The research wing is recognised by several reputed educational universities including the University of Madras, Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University and Pondicherry University.
