KOCHI: The members of around 15 national and international organisations got together in Chennai on Saturday to express their solidarity to pass a resolution demanding immediate action against the persons involved in the killing of two Indian fishermen. World Wildlife Fund, Green Peace, National Fishworkers Association, Dakshin, Tamil Nadu - Pondi Fishworkers Federation, National Coastal Protection Campaign, Kerala Swathanthra Matsya Thozhilali Federation, Fish Mark , Dakshin and Kalpavriksh are some of the organisations that took part in the meeting. The meeting passed a resolution demanding action against the culprits involved in the killing of fishermen, due compensation for the families of the victims and the security cover for fishermen. The resolution will be passed on to the Prime Minister, the Italian Embassy, Sonia Gandhi and Chief minister Ooommen Chandy. The organisations will join together for a nation-wide agitation if the demands are not met.
