A group of Goan tourists saved the lives of five members of a family who were trapped in their car which fell into Ghataprabha river.
The incident occurred near Zangatihal village in Gokak taluk on Friday. The family of senior divisional manager at Indian Oil Corporation G M Nayak was heading towards Gokak falls in a car, when it overturned and fell into Ghataprabha river. Goan tourists, who were passing by in a car, entered the river, broke the wind shields to rescue the family. Raju Borkar, Batra, Nando, Tasman and Henry Farnano, who hail from Savade town in Goa were also on their way to Gokak falls. The rescued family members Balkrishna Nayak, Durgavati Nayak, Kalavati Nayak, M M Nayak and Raj have been admitted to the KHI Hospital in Ghataprabha.
