KOCHI: The state government on Wednesday submitted that the investigating agency had not probed into the death of Sr Mary Ancy of Holy Spirit Convent, Thiruvananthapuram, in a preconceived manner to establish it as a case of suicide. The government submitted this in a report filed in response to a petition by Mathai Philip, father of the nun, seeking a CBI probe into the mystery surrounding the death of Sr Ancy.Sr Ancy was found dead in a water tank on the convent premises at Poonkulam in Thiruvananthapuram on August 17. The state submitted that as part of the investigation, the presence of the car owned by Fr Antony Rebellow, the vicar of the Palappoor Church, at the premises of Holy Spirit Convent during the odd hours of August 17, was also examined. Fr Rebellow has been staying inside the Palappoor church compound, which is approximately one-and-a-half kilometre from the Poonkulam convent, where the incident occurred. “After 8 am, Fr Rebellow took his car outside the residence compound to go to the convent after he received the message regarding the death of Sr Ancy. This has been confirmed by verifying the mobile phone call details and locations of tower of the cellular service provider of Fr Rebellow,” the state submitted. The court adjourned the case for hearing to November 16.
