BHUBANESWAR: A model municipal solid waste management (SWM) project is coming up at Paradip under the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (ICZMP) with World Bank funding.A review of the project by Chief Secretary BK Patnaik here on Wednesday revealed that 29 firms had responded to the global tender inviting expression of interest (EOI) for transaction advisor. After scrutiny and evaluation of the bids, six consultancy firms have been shortlisted. The evaluation report has been sent to World Bank for approval.The shortlisted firms are Scott Wilson India Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, CRISIL Infra Advisory, India, SENSES Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. Noida, BRGM Center Scientfigue Technique, France, Infrastructure Professionals Enterprise Pvt Ltd. and DHV International Service Centre, the Netherlands.The project requires 20 acres of land and locations have already been proposed for the project. The Chief Secretary, however, directed the Paradip Port Trust (PPT), the IDCO and the Jagatsinghpur district collector to identify proper location keeping in view the technology adopted for solid waste management and future expansion of townships.IDCO Chairman Priyabrata Patnaik has been requested to visit various locations identified for the purpose and suggest the best possible spot. World Bank has sanctioned Rs 14.39 crore for  the model project which will be implemented under public private partnership (PPP) mode.  The Housing and Urban Development Department will monitor the  implementation of the project.Housing and Urban Development Secretary Saurav Garg, Jagatsinghpur District Collector N. C. Jena, PPT Chairman G. J. Rao and ICZM Director A. Pattnaik participated in the discussion.
