Government to consider curry leaves unit

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday told the State Assembly that the government would seriously consider setting up a factory in Mettupalayam where curry leaves would be produced in largescale.The CM gave this assurance after several members pressed for setting up of such a factory in Mettupalayam.OKM Chinnaraj (AIADMK) asked the government to set up an industry based on curry leaves in Mettupalayam. K Pandiyarajan (DMDK) said while AP and Karnataka were leading in exporting curry leaf powder, TN should be a front-runner in the business. Members said curry leaf powder was very effective for diabetes.
