Gradual cut in medicines for Mahajan
The condition of BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan continued to be 'critical but stable.'

Mumbai: The condition of BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan continued to be 'critical but stable' on Thursday and there was a 'very gradual' reduction in medicines to maintain his blood pressure.

"The condition is still critical, but stable and very gradually the requirement of drugs for blood pressure support is coming down. The recovery seems to be very slow, but the direction is positive," Director (Administration), Hinduja Hospital, Anupam Verma, said.

Mahajan, who was being treated at Hinduja Hospital after being shot at and critically injured by his brother Praveen on Saturday, continues to be on ventilatory support and dialysis, Verma said.

All other vital parameters remain the same and medically this is going to be a long-drawn affair, Verma added.

Mahajan had received bullet injuries in liver, pancreas and small intestines after he was shot at by his brother Praveen on Saturday.

A stream of visitors continued to pour in at the hospital to inquire about Mahajan's health while BJP workers were offering prayers at several places.

Meanwhile, police have questioned city-based businessman Uday Mishra, who has alleged that Praveen had cheated him of Rs 8.5 lakh in a busineess deal.

Worli Police recorded Mishra's statements on Wednesday in which he alleged that he had struck a deal with Praveen to buy two luxury buses for Rs 17 lakh. While the money was paid to Praveen, he gave possession of one bus but failed to deliver the other, Mishra alleged.

Police are also looking into the aspect whether Praveen was facing any financial crisis and had sought help from Pramod, failing which he committed the crime.
