Guwahati: 3-day police remand for Akhil Gogoi
Gogoi was arrested at the Guwahati Press Club earlier and booked under several IPC sections.

Guwahati: Farmers' leader Akhil Gogoi, arrested in connection with the violent protests in Guwahati which claimed three lives, was on Friday remanded in three days of police custody.

Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate Robin Phukan ordered three days' remand for the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader after he was produced and police prayed for 14 days' custody.

Gogoi was arrested at the Guwahati Press Club earlier and booked under several IPC sections. He was later taken to Dispur police station where the cases were registered against him for leading the violent incidents on June 22 which led to three deaths, injuries to more than 50 people and great damage of public and private property.

A medical examination was also conducted on him by doctors after his arrest.
