Hegde takes onus for report leak

BANGALORE: Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde was upset after his much investigated illegal mining scam report was leaked.The report was leaked before it was submitted to the government as it included big names, including that of CM Yeddyurappa.A visibly upset Hegde told reporters on Thursday morning that he would take the responsibility of this episode, though he admitted that the leak was not by his office.He stressed that his phones were tapped for the last three to four months and suspected some other ‘hands’ in this.Hegde said that he has all documents to prove the allegations in his report and it would be submitted to the government soon.Meanwhile, Hegde said safety of the officials looking into the scam will be ensured.“U V Singh, who was spearheading the mining report, was attacked by a local corporator over a trivial issue.Then other officials facing threats from powerful people have much more to fear,” he added.
