Washington: Denying reports that the Pakistani spy agency chief refused to meet top US officials during their visit to Islamabad, Washington on Wednesday said Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke and American military commander Admiral Mike Mullen had separate meeting with ISI Chief Ahmed Shuja Pasha.
"I believe that he (Holbrooke) had a separate meeting with Director Pasha, in addition to the meeting that he had with Admiral Mullen and Kayani and Pasha," State Department spokesman Robert Wood told reporters here.
The clarification came following claims of a US think tank that Pasha had snubbed the visiting US officials by refusing to meet them as the Pakistan establishment is upset with recent remarks of Holbrooke and Mullen regarding ISI's alleged links with Al Qaeda and Taliban.
"Ambassador Holbrooke and Admiral Mullen, they both had very, very good meetings in Pakistan with a number of officials. What you read in the media about there not having been a meeting between Ambassador Holbrooke and Admiral Mullen and Director Pasha and General Kayani, that was not true.
They did meet. They were good, very constructive meetings," Wood said.
