Home Ministry to act against Delhi Police in Liaqat Shah false arrest case
The National Investigation Agency on January 24 had given a clean chit to Liaqat.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday said that it will take action against Delhi police officers who falsely arrested Liaqat Shah, who was alleged to be a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist.

The National Investigation Agency on January 24 had given a clean chit to Liaqat. According to the sources, Home Ministry has taken strong exception to the Delhi police filing the false case.

The action will be taken against the officers involved and the MHA may issue guidelines to state governments regarding this.

Forty-five-year-old Liaqat was arrested on March 20, 2013 while crossing the Indo-Nepal border in Gorakhpur with his family. Liaqat had said that he had come to surrender under the Jammu and Kashmir government's rehabilitation policy.

The Delhi Police, which arrested him soon after he had crossed the border, alleged that Liaqat was involved in the conspiracy to carry out terror attacks in the capital ahead of Holi.
