IB asks Karnataka to tighten security to prevent communal violence
The IB has warned about a possibility of communal violence ahead of General elections, early next year.

Bangalore: The Central Intelligence Bureau (IB) has asked Karnataka government to take precautionary measures to prevent communal clashes in the state.

According to a top state government source, the IB has warned about a possibility of communal violence ahead of General elections, early next year.

The IB letter has been sent to Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Commissioners of Police, Commissioners of City Corporation and home secretary.

The IB has requested the state to tighten security in Udupi, Mangalore, Karwar, Bhatkal, Chikmagalur, Shimoga, Gulbarga, Mysore, Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum, Tumkur and in the state capital Bangalore.

The state police sources are describing it as a routine exercise in an election year. They say that the law and order situation in the state is highly satisfactory.
