BHUBANESWAR: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bhubaneswar Branch is all set to unveil the IMA Institute here to boost skill upgradation and education of doctors as well as to extend health services to the people. The institute would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the presence of IMA National President Dr Binay Kumar Agarwal and State President Dr Bijaya Kumar Mishra on Sunday. The Institute equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities near the Capital Hospital here has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore.The work on the institute had started in 2009. “The Bhubaneswar IMA Institute would function relentlessly to impart knowledge and skill to medical professionals by organising conferences, seminars and continuous medical education (CME) programmes. While actively involving in health awareness generation campaigns, the Institute would also play host to frequent speciality health camps”, Chairman, IMA Academy of Medical Specialities, Dr SK Mohapatra said. The inauguration would also coincide with the first East Zone Mid-Term CME on Hypertension, Diabetes and Dyslipidaemia (abnormal cholesterol) as the silent killers to be inaugurated by MP Ramachandra Khuntia. The CME would be attended by around 300 medical professionals, with national and international experts deliberating on latest advances in treatment and disease control, Dr Bijaya Mishra said.
