Impact: Minister vows action against illegal mining
Kiran Choudhary has now ordered an immediate enquiry into the case.

New Delhi: After the CNN-IBN expose showing how mining continues in Aravalis despite a ban by the Supreme Court, Haryana's Forest Minister Kiran Choudhary was quick to react.

The Supreme Court in May 2009 had ordered an immediate ban on all mining in the Aravalis. However, investigations showed that the mine operators didn't really shut their shop.

Haryana's Forest Minister Kiran Choudhary took a close look at CNN-IBN's Mining Expose and has now ordered an immediate enquiry.

The minister summoned the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Faridabad and pulled them up for not ensuring that the Supreme Courts orders were carried out.

"If this kind of thing is going on in Faridabad and if our DFO is responsible then I will make sure that he is suspended like the PCCF. I assure you that he is suspended and it will be a case where no one else dares to do this in future. I will make sure. I am grateful to you for bringing this to light, in case illegal mining is going on, strong and strict actions will be taken," said Kiran Choudhary.
