BANGALORE: Aashra Foundation together with D S Max institute organised a programme on Sunday, where books were distributed to children affected by HIV AIDS. The programme plans to increase their coverage to blind kids, physically handicapped, deaf and dumb and the less fortunate in order to help them learn, write and read. The programme targets more than 120 kids affected by the disease. The foundation’s chairman K V Satish and director S P Dayanand are responsible for the thought process behind the programme.Education kits comprising books along with necessary stationery were distributed to the children by Commissioner of Police, Jyothi Prakash Mirji. Kids belonging to all age groups were provided with the required books and stationery.Also present was Kannada actor Pooja Gandhi.A blood donation camp was also organised in association with the Indian Red Cross Society. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by the BBMP official of the HSR Layout, Govindaraju.Participating in the programme were comedian Bank Janardhan, Dingri Nagaraj, mimicry specialist Rajgopal, Karibasavayya, Ramanand and Jayashriraj.Around 150 people donated blood on the occasion.Also, an employee of the foundation, informed City Express that this particular day was chosen as it also marked the birthday of Satish, chairman of Aashra foundation.The main aim of the program was to instill hope and bring light to the lives of these children so they can lead a hale and healthy life.A percent of the proceeds of the programme will go to charity.Jyoti Prakash Mirji, speaking on the occasion, said, “I appreciate the effort behind holding such a camp. It is helps the society remove the ignorance they have about HIV-AIDS and encourages them to undertake the noble deed of donating blood.” He added that it was a positive sign that so many people had come forward to donate blood.Pooja Gandhi said, “This will create awareness and remove the false beliefs that people have about HIV.”
