Dublin (Ireland): India's women team thrashed Wales 4-0 to finish seventh at the Champions Challenge I hockey tournament here on Sunday.
Poonam Rani got the Indians up and running as she drew the first blood, before Anupa Barla's sweetly struck effort and another goal from Ritu Rani extended the margin to 3-0 at half-time.
After the breather, Lily Chanu Mayengbam completed the scoring in the 47th minute from the left side of the circle to help her side finish the tournament at the seventh place.
Wales ended eighth and were relegated from the tournament.
Earlier, India's hopes of making to the semi-finals of the tournament went up in smoke after losing 1-3 via penalty shootout to Scotland in the quarter-finals last week.
Australia returned to the elite women's Champions Trophy when they defeated USA 6-1 to claim the gold in the Champions Challenge I.
