With Pakistan continuing to violate ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, India on Wednesday asserted that the Indian forces never initiate the firing.
Referring to the latest instance of ceasefire violation from across the border, Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday claimed that India only responds to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan and never initiates firing.
This came even as Indian forces retaliated after Pakistan violated ceasefire twice by firing and shelling on forward posts along the LoC in two sectors of Poonch district.
Pakistani troops resorted to firing with automatic weapons and mortar shelling on forward posts along the LoC in Krishnagati sector from 7 am. They troops also fired from automatic weapons on forward posts along the LoC in Balakote sector from 6.20 pm and 9 pm on Tuesday night.
Troops guarding the LoC retaliated resulting in exchanges.
On Sunday, BSF officer Sohan was killed in Pakistan shelling when Pakistani troops targeted their post in Manjakotr sector along LoC in Rajouri district.
