Insects in cola, Goa sues PepsiCo
Food and Drug Authorities in Goa have filed a case as "foreign particles" have been found in Pepsi drinks.

New Delhi: There seems to be no end to the pesti-cola controversy.

Weeks after the Delhi-based NGO, the Centre for Science and Environment, exposed that the colas manufactured by PepsiCo and Coca Cola contain pesticides in high quantities, many states have gone on a banning spree.

Now, the Food and Drug Authorities in Goa have filed a case against PepsiCo as "foreign particles" and insects have allegedly been found in the cold drinks manufactured by the cola giant.

This is the second case registered against Pepsi in less than a fortnight. The government of Karnataka had earlier filed a case against the company under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954, citing presence of pesticides beyond the permissible level in Mirinda and Pepsi brands of soft drinks.

The state had filed a similar case against Coca-Cola a month ago. Karnataka is among the eight states that have already imposed a ban on the sale of soft drinks in schools, colleges, hospitals and government offices.
