TUMKUR:  Tumkur Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Jagadish Prasad has been literally homeless for almost a year as the PWD's residential quarters designated for him has been occupied by one of his subordinate Inspector Umashankar. Since he assumed the office of Tumkur as Lokayukta SP on July 9, 2010, he has been managing with the makeshift guest houses of private engineering colleges.
Confirming this to 'Express', the SP who is currently staying in the Kennedy Guest House of Siddaganga Institute of Technology said that he had no other go."But how long can I stay at the mercy of these guest houses? They too have been pressurising me to leave", he lamented.

The full fledged quarters earmarked for the Lokayukta SPs since 2006, was vacated by the previous SP MB Pavin, on Feb 15, 2010 due to his transfer. Inspector who got wind of it, had applied well in advance on Feb 4, 2010, for the quarters which was designated to the GroupA officers.

On 8 Nov, 2010, the SP wrote to the PWD demanding the quarters which was in turn communicated officially to the Inspector on 16 Nov, 2010. PWD kept on reminding the Inspector, but he did not vacate the quarters. Irked by this, the PWD imposed a rent three times more than the stipulated, for the months of March and April in 2011. Further since May it imposed a rent five times more, but the Inspector did not care at all.

"We are waiting for the further order by the EE to open the lock and vacate it", informed the AEE.
