Despite stringent security measures nothing could be done to prevent the attack on Jehanabad jail on Sunday night.

New Delhi: The latest intelligence inputs suggest that the thousand strong Naxalites who raided Jehanabad jail on Sunday night had come from across southern Bihar borders.

The police think that the Naxals had come from the Parasnath hills on the border of Hazaribagh and Giridih districts in Jharkhand.

Ironically the intelligence inputs say exactly what the Home Ministry denied on Monday.

Two months ago, the Parasnath hills had been combed by security forces and the Jharkhand-Bihar joint task force to tackle Naxalite violence was begun.

However despite these security measures nothing could be done to prevent the attack on Jehanabad jail on Sunday night.

The Home Ministry, which is still groping in the dark for a clue on the Jehanabad jail attack, was closed for Guru Nanak's birthday on Tuesday making it seem as if there was no urgency to get to the bottom of the attack.

MP and former Secretary, Internal Security, Nikhil Kumar, said, "I fail to see how a joint task force will operate in two states at the same time. There is a need for a common plan of action."

He added that law and order was a state subject but a composite national policy to counter the Naxal threat will have to be thought out.

Meanwhile the Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal stated that things in Jehanabad are back to normal.

And all this when the Ranvir Sena is getting into the revenge mode.

What's your reaction?
