HYDERABAD: With the state government deciding to adopt the NCERT curriculum for its Intermediate level, the Board of Intermediate Education has embarked on measures to attune students to the change in curriculum.In this regard, an academic review committee has been formed to finalise changing of syllabus and preparation of textbooks.The committee consists of the BIE chairman, principal secretary to government (secondary education), vicechairman, BIE, director, SCERT and director of Telugu Academy as members.The Board of Intermediate Education has already revised the syllabi for mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany and zoology on par with the NCERT course which will be effective from 2012-13 for first year and 2013-14 for second year.With the regular five year revision of syllabus coinciding with change to NCERT syllabi, the government is planning to invite nationallevel subject experts, university professors, college lecturers as editors and textbook writers to prepare good quality textbooks for the five above mentioned subjects.A three-day introductory workshop will be held from December 8 to 10 at the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Hyderabad, to commence the task of textbook preparation for the first year Intermediate.The preparation of textbooks is likely to be completed by January 31 next year.
