After months of speculations and rumours about the film being shelved, Karan Johar's ambitious project 'Shhuddhi' will star Salman Khan in the lead role. The film will be directed by Karan Malhotra, who made an impressive debut in 2012 with the remake of 'Agneepath'.
'Shhuddhi' was in news for a long time. In the beginning it was to feature Hirthik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. But the film got delayed and eventually both the actors bowed out. There were rumours that Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor had a fall out of sorts as well due to the latter's decision of backing out. Then came the news that 'Shhuddhi' was being shelved indefinitely.
Now it seems the ambitious project will finally see the light of the day. Karan Johar shared on Twitter that Salman Khan will feature in the lead role in the film and it will be releasing during Diwali in 2016. The leading lady has not yet been decided.
This will be Salman Khan's second film under Dharma Productions. Salman had done an extended cameo in Karan Johar's directorial debut 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' which featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The role had also fetched Salman Khan a Best Supporting actor Filmfare Award.
Diwali is ideally the time when SRK releases his films, while Eid has Salman's films at the theaters. With 2016 Diwali already booked for Salman, will SRK pick Eid 2016 to release his next?
